I am delighted to have been invited to be the first Visiting Artist at a new studio venture in Corris, near Machynlleth. Veronica Calarco (an artist-printmaker from Australia, and now resident in Wales for part of the year) is setting up a community for artists in a beautiful old building in this ex-slate mining village in the Dulas valley. She has her own studio in an old shop, complete with vintage shelving and counters, and is planning to rent studio space in the rest of the house. And in the attics - the Visiting Artist, who will use the facilities for a short period of time, and donate a piece of work at the end of their stay. I am really excited about this, and looking forward to a chance to get started on a new body of work in a completely new area, away from the distractions of house, garden and internet.
