2017 marches on, but no New Resolutions yet...

.. and not much activity at Stiwdio Penyrallt, either.  The winter seems to be passing in a bit of a blur. Most of my energy is focussed on painting the house (i.e. with emulsion paint) but the Next Project is looming -  a working trip to Shetland in the Spring.  The logistics are challenging: the considerable distance involved; travelling by public transport, including an overnight ferry; carrying enough stuff, but not too much.

In preparation for the trip I have been reading "The Lighthouse Stevensons" by Bella Bathurst (Harper Perennial, 1999); the family of Robert Louis S. was instrumental in building most of the lighthouses around the coast of Scotland over a one hundred year period.  According to the Shetland Visitor website, Sumburgh Head lighthouse was the first Stevenson lighthouse built on the islands.  According to the book, the lighthouse on Unst at the opposite end of the archipelago was the most difficult.  Whether I shall get there myself remains to be seen.
